Why Remove Metadata in Bulk?

Processing images one at a time is tedious when you have hundreds of product photos, marketing assets, or user-uploaded content. Our bulk tool processes multiple images simultaneously and delivers them as a single ZIP download.

Clean metadata means smaller file sizes (metadata can add 10-50KB per image), faster page loads, and no accidental data leaks.

For teams processing thousands of images, our Developer API enables fully automated metadata stripping in your pipeline.

What gets removed:

  • EXIF data — camera settings, GPS, timestamps
  • IPTC data — creator, copyright, captions
  • XMP data — editing history, software info
  • Thumbnails — embedded preview images

Who Needs Bulk Metadata Removal?

E-Commerce Stores

Product photos from suppliers and manufacturers often contain metadata you don't want on your site — GPS coordinates of warehouses, photographer names, or editing software. Strip all metadata before uploading to Shopify, WooCommerce, or Amazon.

GDPR & Privacy Compliance

Under GDPR, GPS coordinates in photos qualify as personal data. If your platform accepts user-uploaded images, stripping metadata before storage ensures compliance and protects your users' privacy.

Web Performance

EXIF metadata adds 10-50KB of unnecessary data to each image. For sites with hundreds of product images, stripping metadata can reduce total page weight significantly, improving load times and Core Web Vitals.

Content Platforms

If your platform serves user-uploaded images (forums, marketplaces, social apps), automatically stripping metadata protects users from inadvertent location or identity disclosure.

How Bulk Stripping Works

1

Upload Multiple Files

Select multiple JPEG, PNG, TIFF, or WebP images at once. All files are processed securely on our servers.

2

All Metadata Stripped

Every file is processed individually, removing all EXIF, IPTC, and XMP data while preserving image quality.

3

Download as ZIP

Get all your cleaned images in a single ZIP download. Original filenames are preserved so you can drop them right into your project.

Need to automate at scale?

Our Developer API lets you strip metadata from images programmatically. Integrate metadata removal directly into your upload pipeline, CI/CD workflow, or content management system.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many images can I process at once?

Free accounts can process up to 5 images per day. Pro accounts get 300 images per day with bulk upload support. For higher volumes, use our API.

Does stripping metadata reduce image quality?

No. Only the embedded metadata is removed. The image pixels, resolution, color profile, and quality are completely unchanged.

How much file size does metadata add?

EXIF metadata typically adds 10-50KB per image, depending on the camera and whether a thumbnail is embedded. For a catalog of 1,000 product images, that's 10-50MB of unnecessary data.

What if I want to keep some metadata?

Our strip tool removes all metadata. If you need to selectively edit metadata (e.g., remove GPS but keep copyright), use our metadata editor to first strip and then re-add the fields you want to keep.
